i dont care about shadow rushes.... not at all tbh

but i always found shadows to be very very useful for taking out pesky orca airfields (hell yeah, 2 shadows for an airfield full of orcas... those were the days), tech centres, powerplants, expansions etc...
it still takes only 2 shadows for a pp and expansion, but considering thats the only thing theyre effective against now, theyre just not worth the bother.

they were an integral part of nod's hit and run side, atleast for me

the intention behind the 1.01 bomb nerfs was to nerf the shadow rush following the eco nerf, not shadows themselves. it doesnt even make sense to nerf shadows... they werent op; not one bit.
the thing is they nerfed shadows as a whole, not just the shadow rush.... thats stupid.

It's three shadows to take out a PP last time I checked...

Unless you use the Strike Team.

In which case two Shadows still take out an airfield full of Orca's...yet still can't do that if there's a laser fence.

fences are just freaking op

and now that nod needs to rely even more on hit n run, theres no point harassing when a single mouse click can boost a building's hp by 100% and also makes it invincible vs commandos/engys

fences are just another halfassed thing ea wacked into the game for the sake of adding something new

least they could do is make it seem like they put more thought into that fence armour bonus....
srsly fenced mcvs and warfacs are really really not funny

just make it so the fence gives a -fixed- hp bonus of 3000hp.
that means a barracks or tier 4 structure will get a 100% boost, which is fine because their armour is weak as hell

but at the same time it means youre going to have to think twice before moving your mcv without scouting

This is extremely and very true. There would have been no problem if they would have just made the support power start dry!

That said, I have been trying to incorporate the new Shadow Teams into my forces, and I must say, I've been pleasently suprised with their effectiveness! If you combine them with a buggy/bike harrassment team, this makes for an extremely potent harrassment team that is capable of ruining economies by nailing the harvesters AND refineries. But most importantly, the harrassment team guards the shadows from their #1 counters, while still remaining as quick as the shadows themselves: Orcas + Hammerheads, Buggies, and Venoms.

And fences are silly right now. The idea of fences was to bring walls back into the game. But in the old days, the walls only added a small buff to the building HP, because it wasn't that hard to destroy the wall. But now, you have to get the building down to half HP before the fence goes away! That's ludicrous! Since the fences take waaaay too long to destroy, that makes the fence OP in two ways:

1)It increases the HP of the building far too long for a wall
2)It blocks engineers and commandos for far too long

I say the fence should have a HP of its own, seperate from the HP of the building, that must be destroyed before ground forces can attack the building itself. After all, that's how walls used to work.

i totally agree with what you said

did you know the fence still 'exists' even after you 'kill' it?? lol
i mean if a building is dmged below 50%, its max hp is -still- 2x its original, so you can repair it back to its fenced hp value without having to fence it again

another plus- all buildings repair at a fixed rate of like 60hp/sec
so you'd expect a fenced building to take 2x as long to repair from say 50% to full hp right?
but no it doesnt!
it effectively repairs at 120hp/sec so it takes the -same- time to repair as it would without fencing!!

lol fences have 'lameness' written all over them

and yea, i often use shadows too... theyre not that bad, but i still think theyre very cost ineffective tbh

in most cases they cant be used more than once vs buildings, because after the 1st strike the opponent just places down an upgraded defence + sd unit.

hurray, no more shadows, or vertigos, or commandos, or engys, or surprise harassment attacks!

given this fact, imo shadows should strike very hard when they do strike at all

Christian so your main tactic is slow the economy or kill harvesters, Heaven forbid anyone fight a real battle that you dont have to worry about Vein Detonations or Bike rushs

fences were a great idea, but that was when engies didn't have the capture delay time. besides, its so unfair to see your pred force get wiped out by an obelisk sitting behind that fenced warfactory which you can't destroy

What is that supposed to mean? The lack of proper syntax confuses me to no end.
I'm guessing that you're assuming that I only try to kill harvesters, and I don't fight any large armies--"real battles"--because I always bike rush, or rely on Vein Detonations. I'm also assuming you have incredible disdain for such people. Well let me say that 1)I do prefer to harrass, after all I am the harrassment faction, but I do adapt to the situation--I am by no means a one-trick pony 2)Almost every game I fight a "real battle" as you put it, and utilize the EMP of the Marked to great effect. I rarely build the Chemical Facility, let alone use powers besides the Tib Seed. I usually don't have time or money for them!

That said, there is NOTHING wrong with trying to harrass or use the support powers you are given! People who label tactics as cheap, lame, etc., are either talking about an imbalance or a tactic that they cannot counter, and so try to make the people who beat them look dishonorable, instead of gaining the required skills needed to win. If you can't handle bikes, you deserve to lose, especially sine they're so easy to counter (rocketmen). Furthermore, if you can't handle vein detonations, you STILL deserve to lose, considering that the Chemical Facility is so easy to destroy. Yes, the Vein Detonation itself takes no skill, but surviving to the point where you can even get the Facility, and then having enough money to use it, takes alot of skill.

GDIfan: You didn't know I didn't like fences? I haven't liked fences ever since my first game in KW 1.00 on tournament descision! The enemy expanded with nothing to protect his MCV, but because of the magical fencing, it survived long enough for his reinforcements to arrive. Since then, I always knew that they weren't the walls they were supposed to be.

BUG?

When playing a co-op network skirmish against brutal AI, the PC sometimes builds a huge army of.....slingshots. Even if I don't build a single aircraft the whole game, he comes at me with a dozen slingshots and kinda hangs around in my base, waiting to die.

This may be from the bug fix stated in the release notes: "Shatterer and Slingshot icons swapped at Reclamator Hub to match War Factory." Thoughts?

BUG:

When I select Flame tank, Black Hand Squad or Black disciple and ctrl-click (forced attack) on allied unit, selected flame unit is doing no damage.
