I've learned that the minimap is everything in attracting people to play and like your map, it gives them a reliable radar, and is a good preview picture, but let's cut to the chase.

How do you make a minimap for your map?
Because whenever I play the map I get a black box for a radar, and a question mark for the preview picture.

So, how do you make the minimap?

in worldbuilder set the camera to top down view and zoom out so you get the whole map
take a screenshot
open it in something that can save as .tga image type (gimp is free)
resize it, Make it 256x256 or 512x512
save as .tga and call it the same as your map name adding _art at the end. so its 'yourmap'_art
Place in your map folder

Red Alert 3 the official maps they look different. With some simple tools you can you use on GIMP, Photoshop etc. you can make it look official

Does this affect the in-game radar map when you're playing?

Yes.

Is it possible to temporary hide all the objects + organism (trees) on the map when I want to take a screenshot of the map?

Or else I have to use a program removing the objects bit for bit...

It's possible with the WB. Have a look at the "View" menu.

It has to be streched to a square e.g. 128x128, 256x256 or 512x512. Maybe you also have to mirror it vertically and/or horizontally.

I think you guys are wrong. I didn't stretch it to a square and it works just fine. The mini map is a 512x319 pixel tga file.

As serious as C&C fans have been about mapmaking and modding,
and as serious as EA has gotten about making the games so easy to mod and map for,
I'm surprised they haven't realized the money to be had in actually coming out with official C&C mapping and modding guides for each game.
Kind of like the official strategy guides.

Instead, we've been left to figure this all out on our own, and basically build our own modding and mapping communities from the ground up (many of you guys, and some gals, have taken the games to heights even EA didn't achieve (EagleRed, ProGen, Shockwave, etc).

Seriously, EA should consider this approach: download Worldbuilders for free, or sell it to us on a disc with a guide book for us noobs who like to dabble but don't go all out in creating full mods.

You do realise that it comes with a 100 page RTF file explaining each, and every single tool, tips, tricks, etc?

It's pretty much the same RTF file from the good ol' Generals Worldbuilder. They just modified a few words.
