World Builder Video Tutorials

So I'm sure there are a lot of people that are wanting to get started with the new world builder tool, but I'm sure there are also many people with little to no expereice.
Just play the videos, and follow along.

Just saw the video. It was good but the sound is off by a few seconds towards the end. Or it could just be my computer acting up.

No wonder Chris Corry calls us such a dedicated hardcore community. We're doing half of their work for them.

I can't watch it for some reason.

I open it with windows media player but I get that grahical fountain movie that I always get when I play music. What must I do to be able to watch the video?

inAbag if you are having trouble with WMP, download VLC media player. It plays everything. I use it for aeverything.

It's encoded using the Xvid codec, just make sure you have the codec installed and it should play properly.

Yea, I noticed that too, but hopefully it isn't off enough to confuse anybody. I'll try and get it fixed for next time.

this world builder looks almost same as cnc3 one . Can i pleas some cnc3 mapmakers about few tips.
1.How to make rivers , water etc.
2.how to make bridges .
3.How to creat a starting place for players.

I think we need some making water/ocean trenches or make good looking water/ocean tutorials too

nice work on the vids! shame we didnt get some wave action =p thats the one Im not too sure about at the moment.

Also for your dliff tutorial- I though I may add an alternative suggestion to lowering down the terrain height behind the cliffs.

You may go into texture options, select visible, and then paint the terrian thats sticking through the cliffs so that they do not display.

might not be particularly great thing to do if you are not 100% sure where you want your cliffs though.

I don't think that the waves are used anymore in the new water system. I beleive they are still left over from generals.

they are used there was a campaign map where i saw the wave tool used for the name of it tho

well get me the map, and I'll look into it.

I'm going to do an updated water tutorial becasue people still seem to be having problems with water.

I also found out that the river tool doesn't work properly ingame.

Found it, the brighton beach mission named "MAP_MP_PROMO_Feasel2 which has a wave with WaveParticleFX name as "FXShorelineDense01"

weird i had the bug where you cudnt see the water and it was black at > low LOD i clicked on the water on one of the mission maps and now its fixed and works on ultra high ;s, oh well cant complain, glad u told me too look ;p

At the community summit the mapping guys mentioned that with waves flowing rivers wouldn't be possible - something to do with the wave effect being applied to the entire map which would look strange for rivers.

Or something like that, I can't remember exactly what they said, it was a while ago and I'm not a mapping expert.
