Is it possible to patch in Chem Warriors, SSM's, Commando's, and Chinooks so you can build them in the Covert Ops, and maybe the last mission?

And did anyone figure out a fix for the Windows 7 color issue?
The posted fix of looking at a specific other window no longer works, none of the compatibility options work, and this guys computer doesn't support XP Mode, so I haven't been able to try that.

C&C 4 combat could be replicated at home by throwing some MicroMachines down stairs over and over with Frank Klepacki in the background.

The Buildlevel settings in the Covert Ops are purely what the creators of the missions wanted them to be. If they wanted you to be able to build these things, they would just have put the buildlevel setting to "98". They didn't. In fact, in some Covert Ops missions you aren't even allowed to build the MCV. I won't change that. These are official missions. If they have errors, I fix them, but I won't do things that would just make them easier. As it is, the only mission which has full tech is Funpark mission #4.

Apparently you just have to open the Resolution settings window in Windows 7, and leave it open while starting the game, and that fixes it.

Overall, this is an issue with Windows 7 and its 256-colour mode DirectDraw, so it's nothing I can fix in the game.

Yea, that really doesn't work (like I said)
What does work, is alt tabbing, killing explorer.exe, and alt tabbing again.

But, come on...
Other 256 color games, I can switch a video setting while in game, and it fixes the colors too.

So really the game just needs to restart it's video rendered once it starts.
I think.

So, it's possible.
Maybe you could do it as an optional thing?
For those that think you should be able to use them in the Covert Ops?
I mean, it's an expansion, yet it didn't let you use any of the new units except for one mission.

Not really. Starcraft apparently has the same problem. Also, C&C resets the complete colour palette every time it starts playing a new video, and the corruption still continues. it's as if the game either doesn't get permission to write these colours, or that the system overwrites them from the moment they're changed.

I did hear about the "killing explorer" solution, yes. What's this "XP Mode" you were talking about? If you mean the compatibility options, C&C95 should run in Win98 compat mode, not XP.

How are they "new" units, exactly? They've been in the game from the very first release. Just, multiplayer only. Kinda like RA2's country-specific units.

Congratulations on winning 2nd in the C&C Pride competition, Nyerguds.

In my opinion you should have been first, but oh well.

Thanks

A little update on this...

I just finished my most recent batch of exams, meaning I once again have time. In the next few weeks I'll be using this time to dig deep into C&C95.exe again.

I found the code that checks if the conditions for allowing a construction option are met. This code is also responsible for campaign exceptions like the fact the helipad, APC and Rocket Launcher construction options are blocked for Nod. I have now made sure these restrictions can be disabled in a mission file, which means I can finally emulate ALL special stuff from the Funpark missions without needing Funpark mode.

This is a very important step in the development of v1.06c... only a few more breakthroughs to go, and I'll be able to release it. Just the fact I'm back into a hacking mood is already great progress though

Do note that I'm also working on a website and an editor to accompany 1.06c, and this time I WILL finish it all. As usual, the biggest problem will be translation though, so if anyone can help me with the German side of this (French isn't really necessary, I can do that) it'd be much appreciated.
Then again, I haven't even started writing some of the documents I want to include in 1.06c...

For the details, click the link under the image in my signature.
