The October Wars are over and we have our final tournament qualifiers! Which players will be facing off to determine the King of C&C? You'll have to come inside to find out.

Hi, it seems you have made a mistake with the qualifiers. I know there was some discussion about when the month ended, but in the rules it very clearly says it ends at 12 PM GMT.
"Automatch on the 1v1 ladder for C&C3, Kane's Wrath, or Red Alert 3 to enter the Monthly Ladder Wars Program. On the last day of every month at 12:00PM PST, the top 4 players will qualify for a mini single-elimination tournament." (http://portal.commandandconquer.com/portal/site/cnc/article/detail?contentId=e93a405a75504210VgnVCM1000006017780aRCRD)
If you check the rankings at that time you'll see me on #1, technique on #2, Torchlight on #3 and nukestrike on #4 (this was the same order as it was just before the reset). There was confusion before apparently you posted around 12 AM PST on 30 october that it would end in 24 hours, but like the rules state that was wrong.
So please change the qualifiers or explain very well why you changed the rules
Btw maybe its a good idea to reset the ladder on the very moment the month ends, and not create extra confusion by keeping the ladder open for 1-2 more days?

I totally agree with firgli, the reset should've been on Sunday at 12PM PST as well coz many peeps were trying to get in top 4 on sunday too since there was no reset on saturday...This is very disatisfying and a bit unfair if firgli is indeed out since he was rank1 when the reset took place..

The time for the qualifiers was stated several times as 12PM PST on the website leading up to the final day, and also stated that the reset would be on Sunday. Next month I will try to have the reset occur once the round ends.

yes like I said 12 PM GMT as it says in the rules: "12:00PM PST"
Which is the very moment between october and november, so that would make sense. Since PST is 8 or 9 hours earlier than CET, the season would end at 8 am on 1 november in central europe. I played saturday night (31 oct) untill I went to bed at around 2 am, so still 6 hours to go. At that point I was #1 and when I checked again 11 am on 1 nov (so 3 hours after the ladders end) the ratings for the top4 were still exactly the same. I'm pretty sure you've used the ratings at 12:00 AM instead of PM..... (this is also suggested by the post about "ladder ends in 24 hours"
Obviously this would be a mistake, it says otherwise in the rules and it would make no sense to stop it at 12 AM.

To make the time stuff a bit more clear:
According to http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/
PST time is currently:
Tuesday, 3 November
5:10:18 p.m
Central european time
Wednesday, 4 November
2:10:18 a.m
And GMT:
Wednesday, 4 November
1:10:18 a.m
So, PST is GMT+8. This means that 12 PM PST on 31 october is 8 AM GMT on the first november or 9 AM CET.
Like I said at 9 AM CET I was #1 on the ladder, so either you're making a big mistake or I'm not seeing something, let me know please ^^

I had never stated 12PM GMT, it has always been 12 PM PST from the beginning. We had 4 different people take screens of the ladder at the correct time, in which we came to these results.
Now, next month we may switch the final time to something that works better for people playing in Europe, and if we do, it will be stated weeks in advance on the website and on the forums.

Did you actually read my post? Nowhere did I say that I thought it would end at 12 PM GMT, I was just saying that you took your information from a wrong time. Can't you actually view older ladder standings? Is your only source these screenshots? From what times are those? I bet it's the wrong times because many people thought it would end on 12 AM PST instead of PM, because of your post earlier. For example on ra3board.com you can see my game history and see that I got my final rating of 1787 before midnight on 31 october (I think the times on this site are PST, or at least american) http://www.ra3boards.com/history.php?id=1090 These are the games I played on oct 31: Oct-31-09 04:06 PM vs. [Latvia] Ra3_Latvia (# 5 Fire Island (2) 17:03 1v1 win Oct-31-09 03:44 PM vs. [France] PaulAtreides (# 1219) Snow Plow (2) 11:18 1v1 win Oct-31-09 03:18 PM vs. [France] l1kethisgame (# 566) Industrial Strength (2) 09:58 1v1 win Oct-31-09 02:55 PM vs. [Latvia] Ra3_Latvia (# 5 Battlebase Beta (2) 14:22 1v1 win Oct-31-09 02:37 PM vs. [Germany] DeluxeJaveline^^ (# 197) Fire Island (2) 08:34 1v1 win Oct-31-09 02:22 PM vs. [Latvia] Ra3_Latvia (# 5 Cabana Republic (2) 06:03 1v1 win Oct-31-09 02:15 PM vs. [Germany] Steaven85 Industrial Strength (2) 10:44 1v1 loss Oct-31-09 01:56 PM vs. [Germany] DasDuelon Fire Island (2) 08:05 1v1 win Oct-31-09 01:48 PM vs. [Latvia] Ra3_Latvia (# 5 Fire Island (2) 06:17 1v1 loss Oct-31-09 01:09 PM vs. [Germany] DasDuelon Industrial Strength (2) 10:40 1v1 win Oct-31-09 12:53 PM vs. [Latvia] Ra3_Latvia (# 5 Cabana Republic (2) 08:42 1v1 win Oct-31-09 12:44 PM vs. [Germany] _En1gma_ Snow Plow (2) 04:38 1v1 win Oct-31-09 11:47 AM vs. [Singapore] fierywinds (# 146) Cabana Republic (2) 16:55 1v1 win Then I went to bed, following morning I'm still #1, I wasnt sure when it would end so I just played some unrated games (which you can also see on this site), so this did not change my rating. Then the ladder was finally reset and I played some games almost 24 hours after the last one in the list above. Please take some time to understand what is going on, and don't repeat what you already said. The ladder should have ended midnight on 31 october. The screenshots you received are most likely taken at noon on 31 october, thus worthless. I'm off to bed now, hopefully you can fix this see you tomorrow.

What post are you talking about? LIke I said, I have always said 12 PM.
"The ladder should have ended midnight on 31 october. The screenshots you received are most likely taken at noon on 31 october, thus worthless."
The ladder should have ended at noon on October 31st because that is when it was stated to end multiple times on the website.
My source are these screenshots and they are from the correct time.

There was a lot of discussion about the question when the laddershot happens as well on United-Forum. It seems that isn't very easy for some people to understand that.
Wouldn't it be possible to implement a countdown over each ladder which shows exactly how much days / hours / seconds are still left until a monthly Ladder War ends?

Ok I found the answer on wikipedia because 2poc failed to make it clear...
It seems the AM/PM system works strange, and 12 PM is noon indeed, so then the qualifiers are correct. However, its still extremely stupid that EA decided to stop the ladder at noon, it makes no sense at all. This should have been more clear in the rules (use 24-hour system or clearly state it will end at noon).
Hope EA will learn from this mistake.

12 pm is lunch time not midnight
its not stupid, its the best time choice. its a fair time for all the ppl across the world, if they stopped at 0.00 pst then all players from euro or asia would be screwed since it would be their full night, so unless u are a nolifer who can stay up all night and doesnt go school or work u cant play
i think the way they make is the best

Hey guys,
Lets all chill a bit. First off, 12PM PST is exactly what the rules said when we started this and is exactly what was on the website article. Whether that specific time we chose is disliked by some, the fact is, that is exactly the time we chose and there can be no dispute over that as it was written in black and white. It is your responsibility to ensure you know what time 12PM PST is in your region.
That said, we should make it clear on our website by posting the equivalent GMT and Asia time. As seen with this situation, and no offense, a lot of people don't take the time to check to see what time 12PM PST would be in their region until after the fact. I seriously mean no offense when I say, you need to be responsible as well. We'll do better on providing some extra info.
We're just starting our Ladder Wars and like past Ladder Seasons, 12PM PST is a pretty middle of the line time for the world. For our Ladder Seasons we would end at 1PM PST on the "first day of the new month". Whether we end in the middle of the day PST time on the last day or the first day of the month, I think makes no difference. Either way, you still have to play until the last second if you're fighting for a top spot.
For November, we will stick with ending on Nov 30th at 12PM PST. We'll see how it goes, and if need be, we will adjust for December.
The Ladder Reset on every occasion will occur the same day as the month ends. It just happened to be on a Sunday this first time around which is a little tricky considering its a non-work day =)
