I was thinking of something, and please tell me if I'm wrong..

Empire using 1x ref to combat cryo rush..

So, you see..

1x PP: 800
1x Ref: 2500
1x Mecha: 2000

Total: 5300

That's enough to build 5 Tengu.. also, you could make a defender vx and deploy it next to your one refinery..

That would make the rush a lot harder to pull off, you you'd have a small tengu force to take our cryo/apollo

you would be very behind economically for it to work, so if you do that, it will be very hard to get back on track if it failed. If someone who builded apollo to scout saw you went for fast wf, then they could more effectively counter that tactic.

But you're not going fast WF.. you don't get it any faster or slower than you normally would?

They would merely see that you have all of your base/defense concentrated in one area and say, "Hm, maybe rushing isn't the best idea?"

You scout the fact that they change tactics, and react accordingly, i.e. building 2nd ref and teching up.

Against the guy I practice against, its never a good idea to Cryorush unless he uses a 3-ref build, which never happens. He always beats me, albeit about 2 matches could have gone either way.

that is quite orriginal as far as i know. But the thing is, wut if he didn't go cryo rush. Wut then. You dont have the $$$ to build a rax then drone right away, and sending your tengus to scout is a dangerous risk since that is your entire early game investment. One multigunner turret, or two sentries would *** at least 1 tengu b4 you retreat . even if it was an empire mirror, and ur opponent did a similar tactic, your tengus wouldnt be able to fight against a defender vx. However, if there is no turret and only anti infantry...infantry, than you could *** allies and empire harvesters. soviets could get some flaks in b4 there harvestor dies.

If you know for a fact that he's going to cryorush, build 1 ref, 2 WF, and sell your MCV (try and capture oil)

the 2 WF can spit out tengus so fast that you will undoubtedly counter it. But, obviously, you need to know its coming, and that negates this strat.

otherwise, just play normal. put a turret next to both ref, put your MEcha Bay next to one ref and a turret. that way he cannot camp your Mechay Bay with an apollo. either try to spam a few tengus to take out the cryocopter before being killed by the apollos, or quickly tech up to tier 2 and get strikers.

When I cryo-rush an Empire player I also turret push him. I shrink my MCV so it gets there faster. By the time I get to his base (pending on what map it is) I usually have about 2000 credits and I just start spamming turrets. 98% of the time it's usually GG.

So 1 ref + tengu spam really wouldn't work against someone who ALSO turret pushes you 'cause tengus just get destroyed against MG turrets.


The best thing to do as an empire player is to get turrets out, tech up your wf and sell your mcv.

build a turret, tech up, build vxes + infantry.
the infantry will counter any base push and a few vxes + the turret will counter the cryo rush. when you do lose your harvesters or just want the extra cash to push him out of the game, sell mcv.
if he doesn't base push you, use your infantry to push his base. IW take 2 bombs so he'll have a very hard time countering 10-15 of em
