Right, how can I apply shaders to models in 3DS Max 9?
I have installed the Service Packs 1 & 2, and copied the files over from the ModKit into the Autodesk folder to replace the old.
The 'DirectX 9 Shader' still does not appear on the drop-down menu in the 'Basic Shader Parameters' when applying a texture.
Have I done something wrong? Or have I not done something that I need to?

You can't access it from there. Max has two different levels of "shaders".
All of those shaders are based on the same basic shading principles of lambert + highlights. Those are the Standard Shaders.
To access DirectX shaders, click on the "Standard" button to the right of the name. The DirectX shader will appear to be a purple bullet.

I don't have that come up
Have you installed any service packs or anything to your 3DS Max to allow that to come up?

Done that
Thankyou
Sorry, I'd changed that before as error reports came up, but as the service packs have been installed, the errors went and i never changed it back.
So, I've applied it now
Do I need to just export as a w3x file and then it's done?

Ahh, I tried exporting it as a W3X file and it failed
It says:
Mesh "BOX03" has invalid material. Materials have to use "DirectX 9 Shader Material" and there can only be one per mesh

it's chosen 'default.fx' at the moment...
what does it need to be?
'default3d.fx'?

So if we open up the C&C3 Predator Tank and apply the ObjectAllied.fx it should work fine ?
