EA_Apoc wrote:Hey guys,
I posted this in another thread, so i'll post it here as well.
It seems like for many of you, this is not what you expected in a traditional expansion pack, but i'd like to say, why should we always be so predictable? =) That said, after Red Alert 3 released we heavily analyzed community feedback and did extensive survey research across those who have purchased Red Alert 3. One thing we heard loud and clear was MORE STORY and UNITS. So, we decided that we would try something new and create a campaign expansion that delivered on exactly what many were asking for in an expansion for Red Alert 3. Uprising provides a continuation of the story line for each of the 3 factions, plus we’ve added a 4th mini-campaign which will be centered around the newest commando, Yuriko. We think you will really enjoy the Yuriko campaign and agree that it plays out like nothing you've seen before in a Command & Conquer game.
We have definitely not outruled bringing Uprising to stores, right now it is going to be a digital download exclusive available this March, but we are absolutely looking in to other distribution models. Please do not make any assumptions, i'll keep you posted as more info becomes available.
Personal opinion here, I loved Yuri, a fantastic character, but I think Yuriko's time to rise is now and will be a character you will enjoy learning a lot more about. Tanya and Kane in my opinion are the C&C characters that should almost always be there in a Tiberium or Red Alert game, they've been there since the beginning. I think Expansions can take more liberty in their stories as they are extensions of the oringal story and side-stories untold. To me, that that is extremely interesting.
BTW, didn't Yuri get eaten by a T-Rex? =) It's not exactly like Tony Almeida coming back in 24 this season, or every character on HEROES who dies and comes back to life again, he got eaten by a T-Rex! I think he is pretty well digested there, hehe.

So you weren't playing coy
Lol at the 24 mention and the t-rex, well digested lol
Apoc;
Will people who have uprising still be able to match with people who do not? Will the new units be part of the multi-player roster as well?

Uprising does not contain any Multiplayer, so there is no reason for any type of matching, there simply is none.
Currently, we’re focused on making Red Alert 3: Uprising the best campaign expansion and something that will super-serve our single-player fans out there, which I believe is most of you despite the fact you may play multiplayer more predominantly. That said, we clearly realize that there are a lot of people who love playing C&C games online in multiplayer matches, that's a no brainer. I can’t go into our future details about Co-op or Multiplayer at this time, but I will say that we haven’t forgotten all the multiplayer fans out there and as you can expect, we will take care of that in the months ahead as best we can.
I would look at Uprising through a different glass, as opposed to how you view a traditional expansion pack.

1. Don't continue with EA Download server thing
2. Please don't make booster packs. Expansions are best.
I can't look trough Uprising in a different glass since I will have no chance of getting it. I can't buy online. My parents won't allow me.

I'm just being half-sarcastic and humorous, but my eyes don't deceive me, that's what I saw in Yuri's Revenge. At any rate, you can never say never in the world of C&C, but I can tell you that Yuri is not in Uprising.
I may be coy agian in saying we didn't just come up with the name Yuriko out of thin air though =)

Perhaps i'm being a bit naive here, but lets say I still want to play online, does that mean I will need to exit Uprising, and go back to RA3 to play online, or will there be an option to launch the online portion from inside uprising
Sorry for the confusion on my end

That's a great question Matt and would be a pretty cool feature I agree. As of right now, I believe you would have to exit Uprising since it is a standalone game. I'll talk to the devs, that's a cool idea.

i agree with both of ur 2 points, and also i would like to say, that not having on stores will get u - 55%+ customers, despite the fact that 50% of the ra3 customers are already cut off since theres no multiplayer game, and now we got the 50% left from ra3 again cut in to half+ this means, u wont even get the money u spent back.... okz reconsider ur actions about the purchase way!

Thanks, yes if somehow that could be worked in that would be great, even if it was just a launcher inside of uprising, to locate the RA3 launcher (if it exists, since you don't need RA3 to have uprising), and then launch from there.
Thanks for the info, and from now on, no more being coy
