Common Problems READ HERE FIRST!!! (Updated 15/09/2009)

I have still got to try linux and Wine actually. I've read on ra.afraid.org a way to get RA1 running using wine (I presume others work too) so I'll give that a go when I have a chance. I'm going to reformat my laptop again soon, so I'll set it triple booting again and do some playing!

Anyway if the TS problem is rare then its probably not worth setting up the back buffer option in the main thread. Anyway, do you (or anyone else on this forum for that matter) have any idea how to stop RA from giving me a reference memory error in Vista during mission 6? It also happens in xp when the back buffer option is ticked if that helps...

On a side note, since I upted my system to Quad Core and set RA to run on core 3 it seems to run a lot better than it did before, which is interesting.

the guide on ra.afraid.org is way out of date

All you need to do is install TFD then install unoffical 1.03 beta (both on wine) - some of the 1.03 stuff might not work as it uses a batch program to run commands at the end.

The manual versions of pretty much all of the fixes in 1.03 are on my TFD fixes page anyway.

oh hai frankaz. I do not know if this is a common problem (cant find it in this thread, google is adouche, and it seems like only one person had it and simply fixed computer back 2 weeks... which I cant do. I haz an aphobia of doing that now)

anyways, first, Yuris revenge was running fine, i attempt to go online and then it says missing something something. I went on google and it said to set compadibility to windows 98 or something (I cant remember what it said) and then the pop-up that said "Please insert the correct CD-ROM. natrually i set it back to be unchecked and now it runs fine the first like 3 seconds. Now it goes black then it says stuff about it having an error and if i wanted to send it or dont send the error report.

I am using Windows XP Home edition... any help is appriecated. any questions then just ask and ill try to answer it >_>

online missing something? If it's the "Westwood Shared Internet components not installed" there's a fix for that in the list.

herm, sorry. I did not make myself clear. lol

What the problem is now is that, when i attempt to start yuris revenge, it gets a pop-up that says "main excutable for yuris revenge stopped working" or something like that. It this ask to send error report or not. this happens right after the screen goes black from starting the game, I do not even get to the actual game

hey guys i need help with ra2 from the ra3 preorder bonus.\In skirmish after 20 seconds or so the game kills me everything blows up and i lose every single time and i have no idea why?? this really sucks because i love this game and what good is a bonus game you cant play ? I also have the original red alert 2 from 2000 and i was wondering if that can be run on vista? should i try it ? please help i really would like to play this game again

K guys I fixed it looks like 1.006 has a bug that is fixed in the "unoficial patch" 1.007 maybe its just me but that fixed my problem and im 100% sure its the patch because it runs fine in 1.000 and fails in 1.006 and runs fine again in 1.007. Might want to post something on this or make 1.007 the "Oficial patch"
p.s. now I still can't play online because is says Incompatable game versions????? HELP!

hmm. the 1.007 patch will cause problems for online play - as the other people would have to install it too to be able to play you online.

Did you uninstall RA2/YR and then delete the folder, then reinstall and reapply the 1.006 patch? you could try using the auto updater of course instead of the standalone patch...
